The new GoGreen Business Account with the Austrian Eco-label

  • UniCredit Bank Austria now offers a "green" account, certified with the Austrian Eco-label, for self-employed persons, freelancers and small and medium-sized enterprises
  • The management of the GoGreen Business Account is completely digital and paperless
  • UniCredit Bank Austria provides sustainable financing in the amount of the deposits of the account
  • Egolocially designed Debit Mastercard

With the new GoGreen Business Account, UniCredit Bank Austria offers self-employed persons, freelancers and small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to make a contribution to climate protection with their payment transactions. The account is certified with the Austrian Eco-label, which has been identifying products that meet substantial sustainability criteria for 30 years.

"We introduced the GoGreen Account for retail customers about a year ago and have since seen it grow in popularity. After the GoGreen Account for children and young people, which we recently launched, we now offer another green account with the GoGreen Business Account. We can thus also enable self-employed persons and freelancers as well as small and medium-sized enterprises to make a contribution to climate protection already by choosing their account," says Mauro Maschio, Member of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank Austria, responsible for Privatkundenbank.

Sustainable financing in the amount of the account deposits
At the heart of the GoGreen Business Account is the link to sustainable lending - as with all accounts in the GoGreen family, which is promoted by Dominik Thiem as an UniCredit Bank Austria testimonial. UniCredit Bank Austria is committed to providing sustainable financing in the amount of the deposits in the GoGreen Accounts, both in the retail and non-consumer segments. The granting of these sustainable financings is assessed on the basis of defined criteria. The focus is on renewable energy projects (wind and solar power plants) as well as building renovations to improve the energy performance certificate, newly built low-energy houses as well as consumer loans with clear evidence of a sustainable purpose.

"We as a bank have a massive leverage effect towards sustainable business that is far greater than in any other industry - we can steer capital flows towards more sustainability through lending," says Susanne Wendler, Member of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank Austria, responsible for Unternehmerbank. "Responsible entrepreneurship has always meant not only creating long-term economic value, but also strengthening ecological and social values. Those who manage and produce responsibly also want a business account that does not lose sight of the environment and the future," says Wendler.

The account management is 100 per cent paperless. Digital document signing is also possible. Customers can easily and efficiently sign contracts, products and services with a TAN in the BusinessNet or with a qualified electronic signature (QES). And, of course, all modern features are available in BusinessNet, such as photo and QR code transfer. In addition, UniCredit Bank Austria also offers video consulting for self-employed persons, freelancers and small and medium-sized enterprises, thus providing even more flexibility and security.

For all card variants of the GoGreen Account (ATM card, Visa or Mastercard credit cards, etc.), Bank Austria has chosen a card type made of a special PVC material to accelerate plastic degradation. The carrier paper of the card is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified. In addition, there are also three sustainable motif cards in green design.
