On the occasion of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women” on November 25th, UniCredit Bank Austria is sending out a visible signal of support for the elimination of violence against women and is lighting a total of ten selected branches across Austria in orange, including the branches on Stephansplatz, Graz Herrengasse and Am Spitz in Floridsdorf. The UniCredit Tower in Milan, where UniCredit has its headquarters and which is the tallest building in Italy, will also be lit up in orange, as in the previous year.
Worldwide, every third woman is affected by violence; in Austria, every fifth woman experiences psychological, physical and/or sexual violence after the age of 15. "As a leading bank in Austria, we want to take responsibility and raise our voice to support the elimination of violence against women by participating in 'Orange the world'. We will therefore illuminate numerous buildings in orange for 16 days to draw attention to this important issue," says Robert Zadrazil, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria.
Safety at work, gender balance and diversity are cornerstones of UniCredit Bank Austria.
Working jointly to create a better way of living together is a key concern at UniCredit Bank Austria, and gender equality in our working environment is our strong focus. Georgiana Lazar, UniCredit Bank Austria Management Board Member for People & Culture: "Violence against women concerns us all. It is important for me that we show our strong support for the cause and participate in the 'Orange the World' campaign. At UniCredit Bank Austria, we are working to create a safe and positive workplace for all employees, where gender, age, race, nationality, religion and sexual orientation diversity is welcomed: an environment where employees not only feel free to express their opinions and challenge the status quo, but also feel safe to raise issues that are important to them without fear of condemnation or retribution."
In this context, UniCredit has implemented specific workplace policies against harassment, sexual misconduct and bullying across the Group to prevent, detect, enforce and monitor such behaviours on an ongoing basis, as well as an anti-retaliation policy to protect employees and third parties from retaliation.
About Orange the World
Making violence against women and girls visible - this is the goal of UN Women's international campaign ORANGE THE WORLD, in which symbolic buildings around the world are lit up in orange light. The campaign takes place annually between 25 November, the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women”, and 10 December, the "International Human Rights Day".
During these 16 days against violence, buildings all over the world shine in orange to set a visible sign of support for the elimination of violence against women.
