State quality label for family friendliness
UniCredit Bank Austria again awarded “workandfamily” certificate
- UniCredit Bank Austria was certified as a family-friendly employer for the fifth time in a row and awarded the state quality label “workandfamily”
- Minister for Family Affairs Susanne Raab presented the certificate at a festive online award ceremony
This year UniCredit Bank Austria was certified as a family-friendly employer for the fifth time in a row and awarded the state quality label “workandfamily”. The first certification took place in 2009, and the state quality label is awarded as valid for three years.
Georgiana Lazar, Member of the Management Board for People & Culture at UniCredit Bank Austria, emphasises: “Reconciling work and family life is very important to our employees. UniCredit Bank Austria is committed to treating all employees with respect, and we accept and support the different life phases and needs of each and every individual. The certification also allows us to demonstrate to all future employees that balancing family and career is one of the priorities in our company.”
Adi Lehner, Chairman of the Central Works Council of UniCredit Bank Austria, who accepted the certificate together with Georgiana Lazar: “I see the ‘workandfamily’ certificate as an award for many measures taken, in particular for flexible part-time models that are appropriate for different life phases and the possibility of flexible remote working. But also as a mandate to continue working intensively to adapt the working environment even more proactively to the ever faster changing framework conditions and the increasing work pressure.”
“Best practice” in relation to flexible working models
Flexible working models have taken on a special urgency as a result of the Corona pandemic. UniCredit Bank Austria has offered its employees the opportunity to work remotely for many years before the pandemic. At the head office at Austria Campus, this option has been established as a standard.
At UniCredit Bank Austria, the conditions for home office were therefore already in place when the first pandemic-related lockdown was imposed in March 2020. As a result of this and with a joint effort by all those involved, it was possible for a large proportion of employees to immediately pass to full home office with flexible time scheduling.
Also in the branches, which remained open as critical infrastructure, the possibility for home office was created using a rotation principle.
In addition, employees were supported with different initiatives: online psychological counselling as well as various tips and trainings on the usage of online channels, work organisation, time management, mindfulness etc.
State quality label
Companies from all sectors, legal forms and corporate structures with headquarters in Austria and five or more employees can participate in the “workandfamily” certification process. The process is supervised by qualified advisors who support the companies in defining, evaluating and planning family-friendly measures. After a positive assessment by an external certification body, the company is awarded the state quality label by the Ministry of Family Affairs.
