UniCredit and Teach For All join forces to advance education
- Pan-European partnership to support education for children and young people in socio-economically disadvantaged and structurally weak regions in six countries
- UniCredit Bank Austria supports Teach For Austria, an organisation founded in 2011, to help create greater educational fairness in scondary schools and kindergartens in Austria's urban areas with the largest disparities in performance among students
UniCredit and Teach For All are proud to join forces to advance education for children in a foundational pan-European partnership reaching across six UniCredit core countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Romania and Slovakia. Furthermore, the partnership will also shortly be extended to Teach For Serbia, which is working to join the Teach For All global network in the coming months. This new alliance will leverage on a common approach, focusing on innovation and inclusion to achieve results and to unlock the full potential of European youth.
To date, Teach For All has positively impacted more than 300,000 students across Europe involving more than 4,000 teachers, or fellows, who work as additional support in schools. 9,000 alumni, i.e. former fellows, now work in a wide range of sectors such as school management and public administration and continue to work for fairer educational opportunities for disadvantaged children.
UniCredit will support the Teach For All network with a donation of nearly 2 million euros to fund activities for the 2022-2023 school year, as well as engage employees as volunteers to drive change by contributing their time, knowledge and skills. Having positive role models is one of the key levers for students to thrive, through inspirational talks and workshops, as well as the experience of real-world working conditions.
Andrea Orcel, CEO of UniCredit, said: “There is no one single factor that will determine the future success of our continent more than the education and development of our young people. To do so, we need to upskill and support teachers, arming them with all the tools they need to be the best educators possible. UniCredit’s commitment to empowering communities to progress goes beyond providing financial support, which is why I am thrilled to announce our work with Teach For All. Our partnership with this fantastic organisation will help us deliver on our commitment to Social improvement, in line with our ESG strategy, and we will leverage UniCredit’s presence across the continent to ensure we reach those communities where there is greatest need. I am excited to see the results of this partnership: results which will impact the whole of Europe for decades to come.”
Robert Zadrazil, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria: “With our long-standing partnership with Teach For Austria, we want to help ensure that every child has a chance at education and a quality education. This is the basis for so much in life and an important step towards equal opportunities for all children and young people in our society. As part of UniCredit, we are also pleased that our bank will contribute even more to achieving this important goal through the partnership with Teach For All.”
Severin Broucek, Management Teach For Austria: “Especially in Austria, education is still often inherited – which is unfair to the children and bad for the future of all of us. Therefore, efforts are needed from different parts of society to work on improving the fairness of opportunities. The cooperation with UniCredit Bank Austria enables us to be even more effective in classrooms and kindergartens for our children and young people and to help them develop their potential - no matter how much money and education their parents have.”
