NGO accounts: UniCredit Bank Austria concludes new long-term agreement with “Bündnis für Gemeinnützigkeit”

  • Free account management offer extended to even more NGOs
  • UniCredit Bank Austria is a banking partner of more than 200 NGOs in Austria
  • Important support for non-profit organisations for the period until the end of 2027

UniCredit Bank Austria has been offering charitable and non-profit organisations accounts with special conditions for years: the so-called “NGO account” with free account management. In conjunction with the new Gemeinnützigkeitsreformgesetz 2023 (Charities Reform Act 2023), the group of eligible organisations was significantly expanded. In fact, UniCredit Bank Austria recently concluded a new agreement for the period until the end of 2027 with the “Bündnis für Gemeinnützigkeit”, the association representing the non-profit sector and voluntary organisations, so that even more NGOs can gain access to this offer.

“UniCredit Bank Austria takes social responsibility very seriously in many areas and the free NGO account is an example for this. It is important to us to make a contribution to supporting charitable organisations,” says Robert Zadrazil, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria.

The “NGO account” with free account management is specially tailored to the needs of charitable and non-profit organisations. UniCredit Bank Austria offers special conditions and transfers at special rates for domestic payment transactions and investments. “We are delighted that UniCredit Bank Austria continues to support the work of charitable and non-profit organisations as a strong partner. This new agreement means that those organisations that will be able to collect tax-deductible donations for the first time this year will also have access to a free donation account,” says Stefan Wallner, Managing Director of the “Bündnis für Gemeinnützigkeit”.

UniCredit Bank Austria is a banking partner of over 200 NGOs in Austria. In order to open an “NGO account” as an NGO or NPO, the organisation must either be a member of the “Bündnis für Gemeinnützigkeit”, bear the Österreichisches Spendengütesiegel (Austrian Quality Seal for Donations) or be entered in the Ministry of Finance’s list of charitable institutions.
