UniCredit Bank Austria’s crowdfunding initiative celebrates an impressive anniversary

  • With the help of over 1,600 supporters and a total amount of over 322,000 euros, the tenth year of UniCredit Bank Austria’s reward-based crowdfunding initiative is getting 31 Austrian art and cultural projects off the ground

From film and music to education, photography, technology, literature, and architecture – since its launch in 2015, UniCredit Bank Austria’s crowdfunding initiative in cooperation with wemakeit has already supported 325 local cultural projects, mobilised over 24,000 supporters, and raised a total of more than 3.3 million euros. In May 2024, the initiative entered its tenth year and once again offered cultural professionals the opportunity to present their creative ideas to a broad audience and receive up to 5,000 euros in funding. The impressive result in the anniversary year: thanks to the support of over 1,600 people interested in culture and a total of over 322,000 euros, 31 Austrian art and culture projects can be realised this year.

“The great success of our crowdfunding initiative shows once again what an important contribution it makes to the Austrian cultural scene. Art and culture are central pillars of our society, which is why it is particularly important to us to support young and innovative projects. The anniversary results speak for themselves and this year, together with ‘wemakeit’, we are once again sending a strong signal for creative diversity in Austria and supporting creative artists in realising their individual visions,” says Robert Zadrazil, Country Manager Austria, UniCredit.

The record projects 2024
With 19,323 euros, the “Musik für Kinder” project initiated by Antje Kohler raised the highest amount of funding in the crowdfunding campaign. The aim of the singer from Vienna is to produce an album with twelve new children’s songs. The design project “Der Tiegel für den Kompost” by Marlie+Fengg (Vienna), which enables a facial care range in fully recyclable packaging, won over the most supporters. The musical picture book “Das schlummernde Talent” by Angela Stenitzer from Styria received the highest “overfunding” at 133 per cent.
