What our employees tell us
Marlene End, who is studying for a master's degree in IBWL in Vienna, takes stock of her business internship at Bank Austria

Ms End, what exactly does the business internship at Bank Austria involve?
I had the chance to complete two internships at once. Once six months of "Learning and Development" and then "CIB GTB Trade Finance Sales". The business internship offers the opportunity to see a lot of the banking business and to learn in practice. For example, I was responsible for the pre-selection of applicants, communication with applicants, and reporting and presentations for the development team. I took part in events and trade fairs and was present at customer meetings. The internship offers enough time to familiarize yourself with the team and grow into the tasks. This means that you quickly become part of larger and longer-term projects and can take on tasks independently.
What did you particularly like?
The atmosphere in the team was particularly good. Everyone supported me and I was also able to remain flexible in terms of time – which is of course particularly important as a student, as time management often depends on exam dates. My wishes were taken into account and I was accepted as a full-fledged team member and my suggestions and ideas were accepted and partly implemented. I particularly liked the fact that I was also able to contribute my ideas to the innovation team, which made it its motto to question the status quo and bring principles of agile working to the bank.
Their conclusion?
It was a very exciting time in which I was able to develop both professionally and personally. The business internship is a good introduction to the bank and offers the opportunity to build up a network. You get to know different departments and get a good overview very quickly. During my internship, I was also interested in the Graduate Program, which allows me to join the bank on a permanent basis after graduation.
